Here’s to walking barefoot. To make-up free days. To saying I Love You. Here’s to flower headbands, to messy hair, to taking deep breaths, to salty lips, to freckles, to sandy feet, to breaking all the rules, to hot tea on chilly mornings, to sunsets, to holding hands, to swimming naked, to good books, to friends that tell you the truth no matter what. Here’s to puppies, to freshly picked strawberries, to the full moon, to going on vacation, to being home. Here’s to yoga, to long hugs, to butterflies in your stomach, to laughing until your face hurts. Here’s to silence. To first kisses. To last kisses, to all kisses. Here’s to life and death and the moments in between that make it all worthwhile. @oneoeight.tv
Do you have a favorite yoga pose? is it a position or movement that makes you feel great, or challenges you, or something else? it's fun to dive into why our favorite poses are favorites to learn more about who we are so we can navigate our lives with ease, enjoy each moment, and grow in the ways we can help while we're here. I've always loved pigeon, but not the versions i was shown in yoga classes I took where the hips "had to be squared" and the shoulders "had to face the front" I preferred and found value in moving how it feels good and finding a place to wander that is useful. When I started getting photographed more and more in yoga poses, (which started before anyone would think yoga was a good field of work to follow, and friends thought I was nuts for leading free classes in the park & posting yoga videos to YouTube, and yoga teachers I knew were upset with me for all of this) I would do my own version of pigeon. Occasionally a photographer, or makeup artist on set would tell me, that's not the "correct" version of the pose. I would smile and continue to do my thing, knowing finding your own way and allowing space for other people to find theirs was more valuable than imparting rules that made no sense (like most modern yoga alignment) on others. These rules that aren't real were one of the main reasons I had a big spark and fire to create Strala. So many people would try yoga once and say it wasn't for them because of these rules and the boxes they were instructed to fit in during class. Now it's fun to see so many versions of every pose, including this version, all over the web and magazines with so many people, besides me doing it. It feels great, right! Move how it feels great to you and enjoy the ride! Do your own version. You know you are on the right track if it feels natural to you! Pic by @whotels wearing @reebok #stralaeverywhere
